Deborah Garoui is a veteran teacher, director, designer, and author, who began her career in theatre at Southeastern Oklahoma State University under the direction of Dr. Molly Risso. Dr. Risso encouraged Garoui to write and allowed her plays to be produced at SOSU. Garoui began teaching in 1998 in Texas, and has moved all over the state, building programs as she went. After 11 years at Keller ISD, Garoui moved her family to Crosbyton, Texas. She currently teaches at Post High School and enjoys spending time with her daughter, Noor, and her son, Noah, who has special needs. Garoui spends her free time advocating for children with special needs, and educating people about Lennox Gastaut Syndrome. She continues to write, and direct. She also coaches speech and debate, and was recently featured (along with her children) in a documentary about Original Oratory titled Speak that was featured at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
