Why publish through TeachPlayWrite?

One of the core tenants of TeachPlayWrite is transparency and fairness to all, including playwrights. TPW creator Cliff McClelland has published scripts through 3 major publishing companies, and he knows how confusing the process can be for playwrights. Our goal is to make it easy for writers to submit their work, with a fair system of royalties.

Our model is simple. Royalties and materials are flat, clear prices.

Of those costs, the playwright gets:

• 60% on script downloads

• 50% on royalties (includes video license)

• 50% on streaming rights

• 50% on perusal scripts

For any supplemental materials like cue sheets, if they are made by the playwright, the playwright gets 75%.

That's it. Simple. Fair. Easy for playwrights.

How are scripts delivered?

To keep costs low, scripts are only delivered in PDF format via email, for you to print and copy.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept most major credit cards, checks, PayPal, and Purchase Orders. Payments by check or Purchase Order must be received before scripts and royalties are released to you.

What is your pricing model?

We believe in transparent fees that are fair to schools and authors. For this reason, we have one clear pricing model.

• Full-Length Plays (Over 60 minutes)

• Royalties: $125 first performance, includes video license to digitally record and produce up to 100 copies for cast and crew. $75 per performance thereafter.

• Scripts: $50 to download and print for a cast of 20 or more. $30 to download and print for a cast of 1-19.

• Streaming Rights: $50

• Perusal Script: $10

• Director's Bundle (book with supplemental materials): $40

• One-Act Plays (16-60 minutes)

• Royalty: $75 first performance, includes video license to digitally record and produce up to 100 copies for cast and crew. $45 per performance thereafter.

• Scripts: $50 to download and print for a cast of 20 or more. $30 to download and print for a cast of 1-19.

• Streaming Rights: $30

• Perusal Script: $8

• Director's Bundle (book with supplemental materials): $30

• Short Plays (Under 16 minutes)

• Royalty: $40 first performance, includes video license to digitally record and produce up to 100 copies for cast and crew. $25 per performance thereafter.

• Scripts: $50 to download and print for a cast of 20 or more. $30 to download and print for a cast of 1-19.

• Streaming Rights: $15

• Perusal Script: $7

• Director's Bundle (book with supplemental materials): $20
